How Deduvin works
Deduvin is a game you play with a glass of wine in front of you. You tap what you see, smell and taste, and Deduvin narrows down what the wine could be. Then you make your guess, the bottle is revealed, and you see what in the glass pointed the right way and what led you astray.
You do not need to know anything about wine. The questions use everyday words: is it pale or deep, does it make your mouth water, does it dry your gums, does it smell of banana or of mushrooms. Each answer moves the odds across 57 wines, from Beaujolais to Barossa Shiraz, from Chablis to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. A short list at the top of the screen shows where the odds stand after every tap.
When you are ready, you guess the wine and say how sure you are. Confidence is part of the score: a careful "fairly sure" that turns out right beats a reckless "certain". After the reveal, Deduvin explains the glass in a few sentences, points out the one reading that would have told the two closest wines apart, and keeps the lesson for next time.
Play it at a tasting, at dinner, or alone on a Tuesday. It takes about a minute per glass. Taste, spit if you are tasting many, and enjoy responsibly.
